A few quick thoughts on the Arizona Cardinals’ fifth-round draft pick.
The pick: Shaq Riddick, OLB, West Virginia
My take: Despite having NFL size and quickness, Riddick’s bulk is a concern, at least for now. He is undoubtedly a project, but I can see Riddick earning playing time after a year or two in an NFL weight room.
A developing future: There’s one thing that’s certain about Riddick: He developing every year. He spent his first three seasons at Gardner-Webb, a Football Championship Subdivision school, and graduated in three years as an All-American on eight different lists. After dominating FCS, he transferred to West Virginia as a senior and had seven sacks and 27 tackles.
