Former Louisville basketball center Mangok Mathiang has signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets, the Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday, citing a source.
The Hornets also signed former North Carolina star Marcus Paige, the report said.
Mathiang, a 6-foot-10 rookie, played for Charlotte during the NBA summer league, averaging 4.4 points and five rebounds in five games. He shot 53.3 percent in 17.2 minutes per contest.
A two-way contract is a new NBA deal that allows teams to use players a certain number of games at the NBA level while sending them to the NBA G League (formerly the NBA Development League) for the remainder of the season.
Mathiang, 24, averaged 7.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game as a redshirt senior at Louisville this past season, including 15.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in his final four contests.
